د دې انځور په اړه
A strawberry is a heart without the dent, wearing a collar of leaves - and its seeds are the orange's dot-texture rule with one upgrade: each seed sits in its own tiny dimple, so in the shadow zone a seed reads as a dot with a bright edge below it. That detail is optional; the leafy collar is not.
Underneath, this is a single shaded mass like the apple; the subject lives in the silhouette and the surface marks.

پړاو 1
Begin with the big shape.
One shape, one motion. A slightly lopsided mass drawn confidently beats a perfect one assembled from nervous strokes, because you can correct a shape and you cannot un-see hesitation.
پاملرنه Building the mass from many small safe strokes.
کتنه It should fill most of the page with a margin all round.
-
پړاو 2
Make the silhouette uneven.
Nothing organic is a perfect oval. Push the outline in and out where the subject actually does - the asymmetry IS the likeness.
پاملرنه Leaving the construction oval as the finished outline.
کتنه The outline should differ visibly from the oval underneath.
-
پړاو 3
Put a vertical and a horizontal through the middle.
Two light lines through the middle are the rulers for everything that follows. Without them the features drift off-centre a few millimetres at a time.
پاملرنه Skipping the axes because the shape looks simple.
کتنه The two lines should cross near the middle of the mass.
-
پړاو 4
Draw the top feature.
Whatever sits on top attaches INTO the form, not onto its outline - it comes out of a dip or a mound, and drawing that junction is what attaches it.
پاملرنه Balancing the stalk on the outline like a hat.
کتنه The top feature should overlap the mass's outline.
-
پړاو 5
Draw the depression at the top.
The hollow around the top is what makes the form read as having a top rather than an edge. One curve, and note which way it bows - it tells the viewer where their eye is.
پاملرنه Omitting the dip so the top sits on a flat line.
کتنه The dip should curve, not sit flat.
-
پړاو 6
Decide where the light is and mark it.
Pick a direction and commit. Every decision from here - shading, highlight, cast shadow - follows from this one, and changing your mind halfway is the classic way a drawing ends up lit from two directions.
پاملرنه Deferring the decision and shading by instinct.
کتنه You should be able to point at the light source.
-
پړاو 7
Put the shadow side in.
Work in one direction and build darkness in passes. Scrubbing back and forth gives an even grey - precisely the thing that makes a drawing look flat.
پاملرنه Scrubbing, and stopping two steps short of dark enough.
کتنه The dark side should be clearly darker than the mid tone.
-
پړاو 8
Keep the very edge lighter than the band inside it.
Leave a thin lighter strip right at the shadow-side edge - bounced light from the surface below. It is the single cheapest thing that makes a form read as round.
پاملرنه Running the shading tight to the outline.
کتنه A lighter line should separate shading from edge.
-
پړاو 9
Add the bright spot.
One highlight, small, off-centre on the lit side. Two symmetrical highlights read as plastic; a big one reads as wet.
پاملرنه A large or doubled highlight.
کتنه The highlight should be smaller than your thumbnail.
-
پړاو 10
Add the identifying surface detail.
Surface marks follow the form - they curve over the mass and fade near the highlight. Flat marks cancel the volume you just shaded into it.
پاملرنه Marks drawn flat across the curved surface.
کتنه Marks should bend with the surface.
-
پړاو 11
Add the shadow it sits in.
Darkest at the contact point, softer as it stretches away from the light. It anchors the object; without it everything you shaded still floats.
پاملرنه An even grey puddle not touching the object.
کتنه The shadow should touch the object's base.
-
پړاو 12
Press harder on the final lines and remove the guides.
Weight the silhouette, erase the axes and the oval, and leave the interior marks light. The weight difference is what makes it look deliberate.
پاملرنه Equal weight everywhere.
کتنه Outline darkest, marks lightest, guides gone.

This is a value lesson: one mass, a committed light direction, and the courage to go dark enough. The form is simple on purpose so the light can be the whole subject.
The strawberry combines the two solid-family skills so far - a corrected silhouette and light-obedient texture - and adds seeds-in-rows: texture with a direction, curving with the form it sits on, which is the last texture idea the family has to teach.

تاسو ته څه اړتيا ده
A pencil, kept light until the last step, and an eraser you will actually use. The construction is deliberately drawn to be removed.
که چېرې دا غلط وي
If it reads as a heart, the point is too sharp: a strawberry's tip is blunt, and its widest point sits high, just under the leaves.
If the seeds flatten it, they are evenly scattered. They follow loose diagonal rows that curve with the body, and they fade out in the highlight like all texture.
If the collar is wrong, it has too few leaves: the calyx is five or six pointed leaves splaying in different directions, plus a stem stump - a neat bow of two leaves reads as a tomato.

پوښتنې چې خلک يې کوي
- How do I draw strawberry seeds?
- Small ovals in loose diagonal rows that curve with the body, fading out in the highlight. Evenly scattered seeds flatten the fruit instantly.
- How do I draw the strawberry's leaves?
- Five or six pointed leaves splaying unevenly from under the stem stump - the calyx. Two neat leaves in a bow turns the fruit into a tomato.
- What shape is a strawberry?
- A blunt heart with no dent: widest just under the leaves, tapering to a rounded point. A sharp point reads as a valentine instead of a fruit.
- Can I draw a strawberry on paper instead of the canvas?
- Yes, and for a shading lesson paper is arguably better - a soft pencil gives you more range than a finger on glass. The printable sheet has every step, and a photographed result is measured the same way.
- How do I start drawing a strawberry?
- One oval, drawn in a single motion, then correct the silhouette where the real thing differs. The oval is scaffolding, not the outline.
- How do I shade a strawberry?
- Pick a light direction and commit, shade in one direction in passes, keep the darkest band just inside the edge, and leave one small off-centre highlight.
- Why does my strawberry look flat?
- Almost certainly range - no true dark anywhere and no untouched light left on the page. Go two steps darker than feels safe and leave the highlight alone.
- Can a beginner draw a strawberry?
- Yes - it is deliberately one of the simpler forms here, chosen so the shading can be the whole lesson.
- Does a strawberry need a cast shadow?
- Yes, always. Without one the form floats on the page however carefully you shaded it. Darkest at the contact point, softer as it stretches away.
