Free drawing courses, by level
Start where you actually are. Every lesson has the canvas built into the page, nothing is graded, and nothing blocks you from moving on.
- Level 1 Level 1: Start Here You've never really drawn, or not since school.
- Level 2 Level 2: Shapes and Form You can finish a drawing, but it comes out flat.
- Level 3 Level 3: Light and Shadow Your outlines are fine. You want things to look solid.
Why levels rather than one long course
A complete beginner and somebody who already draws want different things, and a single course serves one of them badly. Levels let you say which you are in one click, and switch if you guessed wrong.
Nothing is locked. You can start at Level 3 on your first day if you want to - the levels are a recommendation, not a gate. The best-known free drawing course makes you draw 250 boxes before you may continue, and its own community warns people about burning out on it. We do not do that.
There is no test at the end, no certificate and no score. What you get instead is a record of what you drew and how your technique moved, which is the only evidence of progress that has ever mattered.
