Draw the overall mass first.

It should fill most of the page with a margin all round.

Дар бораи ин тасвирот

A pear is two forms pretending to be one: a small sphere sitting on a big one, with the waist between them smoothed over. Draw it as a snowman first and blend the join after - starting from the outline is how pears end up as blobs, because the outline is the least informative thing about the fruit.

Underneath, this is a single shaded mass like the apple; the subject lives in the silhouette and the surface marks.

Қадами ба қадам

  1. Қадам 1

    Draw the overall mass first.

One shape, one motion. A slightly lopsided mass drawn confidently beats a perfect one assembled from nervous strokes, because you can correct a shape and you cannot un-see hesitation.

Диққат Building the mass from many small safe strokes.

& Озмоиш It should fill most of the page with a margin all round.

  2. Қадам 2

Vary the outline so it stops looking geometric.

Nothing organic is a perfect oval. Push the outline in and out where the subject actually does - the asymmetry IS the likeness.

Диққат Leaving the construction oval as the finished outline.

& Озмоиш The outline should differ visibly from the oval underneath.

  3. Қадам 3

Mark the centre with two light lines.

Two light lines through the middle are the rulers for everything that follows. Without them the features drift off-centre a few millimetres at a time.

Диққат Skipping the axes because the shape looks simple.

& Озмоиш The two lines should cross near the middle of the mass.

  4. Қадам 4

    Add the stalk or top.

Whatever sits on top attaches INTO the form, not onto its outline - it comes out of a dip or a mound, and drawing that junction is what attaches it.

Диққат Balancing the stalk on the outline like a hat.

& Озмоиш The top feature should overlap the mass's outline.

  5. Қадам 5

Draw the dip or curve at the top.

The hollow around the top is what makes the form read as having a top rather than an edge. One curve, and note which way it bows - it tells the viewer where their eye is.

Диққат Omitting the dip so the top sits on a flat line.

& Озмоиш The dip should curve, not sit flat.

  6. Қадам 6

Mark which way the light comes from.

Pick a direction and commit. Every decision from here - shading, highlight, cast shadow - follows from this one, and changing your mind halfway is the classic way a drawing ends up lit from two directions.

Диққат Deferring the decision and shading by instinct.

& Озмоиш You should be able to point at the light source.

  7. Қадам 7

Darken the side away from the light.

Work in one direction and build darkness in passes. Scrubbing back and forth gives an even grey - precisely the thing that makes a drawing look flat.

Диққат Scrubbing, and stopping two steps short of dark enough.

& Озмоиш The dark side should be clearly darker than the mid tone.

  8. Қадам 8

    Add the bounced light.

Leave a thin lighter strip right at the shadow-side edge - bounced light from the surface below. It is the single cheapest thing that makes a form read as round.

Диққат Running the shading tight to the outline.

& Озмоиш A lighter line should separate shading from edge.

  9. Қадам 9

Draw the highlight where the light hits.

One highlight, small, off-centre on the lit side. Two symmetrical highlights read as plastic; a big one reads as wet.

Диққат A large or doubled highlight.

& Озмоиш The highlight should be smaller than your thumbnail.

  10. Қадам 10

Add the surface marks that say pear.

Surface marks follow the form - they curve over the mass and fade near the highlight. Flat marks cancel the volume you just shaded into it.

Диққат Marks drawn flat across the curved surface.

& Озмоиш Marks should bend with the surface.

  11. Қадам 11

    Add the cast shadow.

Darkest at the contact point, softer as it stretches away from the light. It anchors the object; without it everything you shaded still floats.

Диққат An even grey puddle not touching the object.

& Озмоиш The shadow should touch the object's base.

  12. Қадам 12

Weight the outline and lose the construction.

Weight the silhouette, erase the axes and the oval, and leave the interior marks light. The weight difference is what makes it look deliberate.

    Диққат Equal weight everywhere.

& Озмоиш Outline darkest, marks lightest, guides gone.

The finished drawing of a pear with the construction lines erased

What transfers is the standard light kit - core shadow inside the edge, bounced light at it, one small highlight, a cast shadow that anchors. Every shaded form you ever draw uses all four.

The pear introduces compound form: two simple solids blended into one silhouette, each keeping its own light behaviour - the top sphere carries its own small core shadow inside the big one's. That is the apple lesson squared, and the honest reason it sits at difficulty two.

Ба шумо чӣ лозим аст

Anything that makes a mark. On paper, press lightly for the first few steps - most of what you draw early is scaffolding you will erase.

Агар хатогӣ рӯй диҳад

If it looks like a blob, go back to the two spheres: small on top of large, then ONE smoothed S-curve down each side through the waist.

If it stands too straight, tilt the top sphere - real pears lean, and the lean is most of their character.

If the neck is wrong, it is too abrupt: the waist between the two spheres is a long soft curve, not a pinch.

Саволҳои маъмул

What shape is a pear really?
A small sphere blended onto a big one - a snowman with the waist smoothed over. Draw the two spheres first; the outline comes from them, not the other way round.
How do I shade a pear?
As two spheres sharing one light: the top form casts a soft shadow onto the shoulder of the bottom one, and each keeps its own core shadow and highlight.
Why does my pear look like a blob?
The construction was skipped. Without the two-sphere scaffold the outline has nothing to obey - rebuild it as small-on-large and the fruit appears.
Can I draw a pear on paper instead of the canvas?
Yes, and for a shading lesson paper is arguably better - a soft pencil gives you more range than a finger on glass. The printable sheet has every step, and a photographed result is measured the same way.
How do I start drawing a pear?
One oval, drawn in a single motion, then correct the silhouette where the real thing differs. The oval is scaffolding, not the outline.
How do I shade a pear?
Pick a light direction and commit, shade in one direction in passes, keep the darkest band just inside the edge, and leave one small off-centre highlight.
Why does my pear look flat?
Almost certainly range - no true dark anywhere and no untouched light left on the page. Go two steps darker than feels safe and leave the highlight alone.
Can a beginner draw a pear?
Yes - it is deliberately one of the simpler forms here, chosen so the shading can be the whole lesson.
Does a pear need a cast shadow?
Yes, always. Without one the form floats on the page however carefully you shaded it. Darkest at the contact point, softer as it stretches away.
